Warner Bros. has been doing a great job with it’s classic catalog lately, especially with their Blu-ray Book Special Editions. Alfred Hitchcock’s North By Northwest just turned 50 and it’s the latest film to get the Blu-ray Book treatment. The film stars legendary leading man Cary Grant who delivers the goods in a tale of mistaken identity. Grant goes on a wild ride that ends on the face of Mount Rushmore. Many consider North By Northwest to be Hitchcock’s most complete film combining elements of suspense, drama, comedy & action in a single film.

The video quality is great, there are a few spots where the visual effects stand out a bit, but for this film being 50 years old it really holds up well. The audio on this disc is also well done, overall Warner put a lot of time and care into this one. This special edition has a bunch of great extras including a audio commentary and a handful of documentaries on both Cary Grant & Alfred Hitchcock. Bottom line is any cinema fan should have this flick and this blu-ray does a great job of bringing it home in high definition.
