Fringe (Blu-ray)

Fringe

Fringe ( Blu-ray )

Fringe is the brain child of J.J. Abrams & writing duo Kurtzman & Orci which have been behind such critically acclaimed properties as Lost, Alias and the recent re-boot of Star Trek just to name a few. On the surface Fringe may come off as X-File-ish which is understandable. The show is very “Monster of the week” and features a quirky male lead and a no non-sense female lead, but to say Fringe is just aping X-Files would be doing the show a huge disservice. The creators have basically cherry picked from the best of the best and created a show that embodies the spirit of shows like Lost, The Twilight Zone, X-Files and Law & Order just to name a few. Like the forementioned shows it’s filled with secrets, easter eggs and has those “Oh Shit” moments that make waiting 7 days for the next episode seem like an eternity.

On the technically front Fringe brings it, the episodes looks good and sound good too. Feature wise this season is pretty stacked, while we don’t get commentaries on every episode, we are treated with plenty of in depth features and looks behind the scenes. Bottom line, this show is a must watch for any real sci-fi fan and WB has delivered with a great Blu-ray and DVD set. Season 2 is only days away from this review going up, so you might want to bone up on Fringe now, before you get left behind!
